Tilaa kulttuurille ry & Tukikohta (”More Space for Culture – registered association & Base”)

Tilaa kulttuurille is a non-profit organization in Oulu, Finland that rents empty buildings and other properties from the city and private owners and renovates and sublets them for cultural use. Our headquarters are at Tukikohta, a former Oulu city park department depot at Välivainio. Tukikohta has over 1200 m^2 of space, with rooms sublet for rehearsal spaces, offices, workshops and garages and common kitchens and 2 halls (112 and 271 m^2) that can be used for events and hanging out. We also have some other smaller rented rooms elsewhere in Oulu.

Tilaa kulttuurille ry was founded in 2013, with a mission to provide workspaces for culture and sports organizations and individuals in Oulu. Anyone interested in participating can join as a member write to tilaakulttuurille [at] gmail com for details. The membership costs 5 € / year.

The small hall is equipped with full PA system and is mainly for hosting loud live music shows. The big hall is more of a hangout / cafe, it has sofas, a DJ system, video projector, PS3, pool and ping pong tables and is well suited for birthday parties and other social events.

Tilaa kulttuurille itself doesn’t organize events, but there are several groups within Tukikohta who do and you can contact them if you need help. You can also rent the halls and organize events by yourself. The rent for halls is 10 € / hour / hall, or 150 € / day or 250 € / day for both halls. If you are planning a charity event or a free public event you can ask for discount. The halls can be reserved by email from varaukset.tilaakulttuurille [at] gmail com

We have a strict safe space policy and zero tolerance for violence, sexism, homophobia and racism at Tukikohta that must be followed even if you rent the space for a private event.
